Associate Counsellor

Kenneth Kuo - Registered Therapeutic Counsellor,  Couples Counsellor

I am glad you are here and I warmly welcome you.  I understand you’re likely having some difficulty in life right now, perhaps feeling confused, depressed, or even some pain and hopelessness. This is nothing to be ashamed of as all human beings need support from time to time. We can't always do life alone, and nor should we.

Like you, I’ve experienced many ups and downs in life’s roller coaster ride. Whether it’s job losses, financial worries, parenting stresses or seeking my true purpose - I’ve been there. And like you, those stressors impacted my intimate relationship in both small and big ways.  At times I felt desperate, numb and hopeless.  But the pain, sorrow and difficult situations didn’t last forever.  With the love and support of family, friends and my counsellor, I navigated through those tough life moments. In time, I felt hopeful again.

I've walked a journey that in many ways is likely similar to yours, which is why I’m here to help you take incremental, yet meaningful and empowering steps. Steps toward healing old wounds, resolving internal conflicts, connecting to your core values, and reclaiming your internal resources that energize and motivate you.  I can relate to you.

As a specialist couples and relationship counsellor, I can show you and your partner how to discover new perspectives and learn new ways to cope, overcoming your personal and relationship struggles. You don't have to do this alone and I'll offer you a judgment-free, safe space to help you both get to where you’d like to be.

After a long career in public service, I entered the counselling profession to make a difference. One story, one person at a time. In addition to my counselling work, I volunteer in the community including co-facilitating support groups for bereaving individuals and for individuals going through traumatic separation/divorce.

I utilize an integrative counselling approach encompassing person- centred therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, dialectical behavioural therapy, Gottman Method Couples Therapy, solution-focused brief therapy and narrative therapy. But in the end, our work is all about you and your story.
