Work With Us
Join a collaborative, relationally focused therapy practice
Vida Relationships is a niche relationship clinic working with couples, families and individuals, and we’re looking for warm, relational and open-minded therapists to join our growing team.
We’re hoping to find someone who brings genuine curiosity and enthusiasm to their work, values collaboration, and is excited about becoming part of a supportive clinical community.
We believe that what makes a great therapist cannot be captured by credentials alone.
Training and clinical competence matter deeply to us. So do integrity, curiosity, reliability, self-awareness, warmth and the ability to genuinely collaborate with others.
We are looking for therapists who care deeply about their work, believe in people’s capacity for healing, and want to be part of a clinical community where we learn from one another, support one another and do thoughtful work together.
Whether you are an experienced clinician looking for a professional home or an earlier-career therapist eager to deepen your skills, we would be interested in hearing from you.

WORK WITH US
The Clinical Work
We are particularly interested in clinicians who would like to develop a practice involving some combination of:
-
Couples counselling and relationship therapy
-
Family therapy
-
Individual psychotherapy
-
Trauma recovery
-
Anxiety and depression
-
Complex and developmental trauma
-
Attachment and relational injuries
-
Relationship difficulties connected with earlier trauma
-
Supporting individuals and couples to create greater safety, connection and understanding in their relationships
All clinicians joining the practice need to be comfortable working with both individuals and couples virtually as part of their caseload.
Existing couples therapy training is an asset, but it is not necessarily required.
For an earlier-career therapist with strong foundational counselling skills and a genuine interest in becoming competent in couples therapy, we may offer a more structured Supported Practice Pathway while you develop your skills and build your practice.
The Kind of Therapist We’re Looking For
We are looking for clinicians who are:

-
Honest, trustworthy and dependable
-
Warm, genuine and relational
-
Punctual, conscientious and professional
-
Curious and enthusiastic about learning
-
Reflective and willing to consider their own responses within the therapeutic relationship
-
Open to feedback, consultation and continued professional development
-
Comfortable acknowledging what they don’t know and seeking support when needed
-
Able to remain thoughtful and grounded when clinical work becomes complex
-
Collaborative and generous with colleagues
-
Interested in being an active member of a clinical team
-
Deeply committed to helping people heal and grow
-
Able to bring both professionalism and humanity into their work
-
Appreciative of a workplace where there is room for warmth, levity and a good sense of humour

We don’t expect therapists to know everything. We do expect them to be thoughtful about the limits of their knowledge, committed to practising within their competence, and willing to continue learning.

Human qualities matter here. Clinical skills can be developed. Integrity, curiosity, reliability, compassion and the capacity to work collaboratively are equally important foundations.
Collaborative & supportive
Reflective & self-aware
Eager to learn
Relational & genuine
Reliable & trustworthy
How We Think About Therapy
At the heart of our work is a belief that people can heal.
We believe painful relational patterns, attachment injuries and trauma can change when people are offered the right combination of safety, support, understanding and skilled therapeutic intervention.
Our work is relational, trauma-informed and integrative. We value evidence-informed treatment while recognizing that therapy is more than the application of techniques. The therapeutic relationship matters, as do attunement, collaboration, pacing, curiosity and an understanding of each client within the larger context of their relationships and lived experience.
Vida Relationships has a particular focus on relationship difficulties that are complicated by trauma, attachment wounds and complex relational injury. Alongside couples and family therapy, we also provide a significant amount of individual therapy for concerns such as trauma recovery, anxiety, depression and longstanding relational patterns.
Across our team, we bring training and experience in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, Imago Relationship Therapy, the Bader-Pearson Developmental Model of Couples Therapy through The Couples Institute, and the Gottman Method.
Our clinicians also bring significant training and experience in trauma treatment, allowing us to work thoughtfully with more complex couple and relationship dynamics, including situations where childhood trauma, attachment injury or earlier relational experiences are affecting present-day relationships.
We do not expect therapists joining our team to already be trained in all of these approaches. What matters is openness to learning, developing your clinical skills and working integratively.
30+ years combined experience
Trauma-informed clinical expertise
Multimodal couples therapy training
Warm, relational approach
Experienced and Earlier-Career Clinicians Are Welcome
We welcome applications from clinicians at different stages of their careers.
For experienced therapists, this may be an opportunity to join a collegial practice while maintaining the independence and flexibility of private practice.
For newer therapists, we are interested in people with strong foundational skills, humility, curiosity and a genuine desire to grow.
Experience matters, but years in practice are not the only thing we consider. Self-awareness, integrity, reliability, clinical curiosity and willingness to learn matter enormously to us.
For selected earlier-career clinicians, we may offer a Supported Practice Pathway that includes additional teaching and structured professional development during the first several months of building a caseload.
Compensation during this period reflects the additional training and support provided and is reviewed as the clinician develops experience and competency.
Professional Requirements
Applicants must:

-
Be registered and in good standing with an appropriate professional regulatory or professional association
-
Maintain professional liability insurance
-
Practise within their professional scope and areas of competence
-
Maintain ethical and appropriate clinical documentation
-
Be committed to ongoing professional development
-
Be comfortable working independently within an independent-contractor model
-
Be willing to use Jane for scheduling and documentation
-
Be comfortable providing virtual therapy through Jane Video and doxy.me
-
Be able to work with both individuals and couples virtually
-
Be available to provide brief 15-20 minute complimentary consultations to prospective clients
We welcome applications from Registered Clinical Counsellors, Registered Social Workers, Psychologists and Registered Therapeutic Counsellors, as well as other appropriately qualified mental health professionals whose designation permits independent clinical practice.
A Practice Built Around Collaboration
We want the therapists who work here to know one another.

We cross-refer, share resources, learn together and support one another when clinical work is challenging. We value direct, respectful communication and therapists who are willing to contribute to the culture of the practice.
You are welcome to have your own private practice, professional projects or other clinical roles alongside your work with us. We are simply looking for people who also genuinely want to belong here.
Our hope is to build long-term working relationships with therapists who see themselves becoming part of the practice over time.
Building Your Caseload
We currently receive active referrals and are looking to expand our clinical team.

We are looking for therapists who would like to build toward approximately 8–10 client sessions per week with the practice.
As with any private practice caseload, building a consistent schedule happens over time. We do not promise an immediate full caseload, and we are looking for clinicians who understand that developing a sustainable practice is a gradual process.
We provide referrals, administrative infrastructure and marketing support while working collaboratively with therapists as their practice develops.
Virtual and In-Person Work
All clinicians joining Vida Relationships must be able to provide both individual and couples therapy virtually.
Virtual work is an important part of the practice, and clinicians need to be comfortable using both Jane Video and doxy.me.
In-person work may also be possible. Office space may be available through the practice in some circumstances, and clinicians may also use their own suitable professional office space.
We are flexible about how this is structured and can discuss what makes the most sense based on location, availability and the needs of the practice.
Independent Contractor Position
Therapists work with the practice as independent contractors.

Clinicians remain responsible for the obligations associated with independent practice, including their own income taxes, professional registration, liability insurance, required supervision or consultation, vacation time, sick time and other obligations associated with self-employment.
We provide practice infrastructure, administrative services, referrals, professional development opportunities and collaborative community while respecting the professional independence of the clinicians who work with us.
You May Be a Particularly Good Fit If...
You want the independence of private practice without necessarily wanting to practise completely alone. You enjoy learning from other therapists and sharing what you know.
You are interested in couples work, family relationships, trauma treatment and the complexity of human relationships.
You value thoughtful, relational therapy rather than simply applying techniques.
You take your responsibilities seriously while also appreciating humour, warmth and humanity in the people you work alongside. And you are looking for a clinical team that you can genuinely become part of. If your preference is to work entirely independently with minimal involvement in a clinic community, this probably will not be the best fit.
We want the relationship to feel right for both you and us.

Prospective clients are offered complimentary 15-minute consultations and are encouraged to meet with the therapist or therapists they are considering so they can find the right fit. Clinicians joining our team therefore need to be comfortable offering these brief introductory consultations.
A Little About Our Team Culture
Therapy can be deeply meaningful work. It can also be demanding work.
We believe therapists do better when they are connected to other therapists. Alongside our monthly seminars and everyday collaboration, we spend time together socially a couple of times each year. We value collegiality, conversation, laughter and the opportunity to know one another as people as well as professionals.
We want our practice to be a place where excellent clinical work and genuine human connection can coexist.
